I encountered a heart break yesterday; one that will last for days and weeks to come, and will no doubt reoccur every time I watch some of my favorite movies. Not only have I lost Professor Severus Snape in my home away from home, the magical world of Harry Potter, but as of yesterday I lost the single person who truly brought the beloved character to life. Alan Rickman died yesterday at the age of 69 due to a secret battle with cancer. He had graced the screen and stage in many roles, from Die Hard‘s Hans Gruber, to the well-known Harry Potter franchise as Snape. Myself and any fan of Rickman could easily recognize his voice and without a doubt loved his character, antagonist and protagonist alike. Whether he played a blue caterpillar (Alice in Wonderland) or a perverted judge (Sweeney Todd…), he managed to encapsulate every essence of a writer’s character and…
