The NCAA Needs to Change



The University of Louisville is the latest athletic program to self-impose a postseason ban in order to save face and show the NCAA they are taking care of their actions. The scandal came out before the season started, and all involved know that the NCAA won’t be done with their investigation for quite some time.

The way the NCAA’s history of punishment is to ban that school from participating in post-season play for a season or two, on occasion they have also taken away scholarships from the program. The problem with this is whom it punishes. Most of these violations are not found until years after most of the players from the team that committed them are gone, either to the NBA or from graduation. They violate the rules, leave the school, and leave the athletes who did nothing wrong to pay the consequences.
