How to get “LinkedIn” to Your Network

This week in my social media class, my professor conducted a LinkedIn workshop.  The workshop was applicable to students with all levels of LinkedIn experience and was super helpful!  If you’re interested in watching the entire workshop, you can find it here, but I will also share my major take-aways on how to create a successful LinkedIn profile.

1. Use a professional headshot

This should be pretty self-explanatory, but since LinkedIn is a professional networking site, it is beneficial to post a headshot that you would use when applying for a job. It’s not necessary to pay a ton of money for headshots.  If you have a nice camera and good lighting, you can do it on your own.  Here is the headshot I use on my LinkedIn profile.  My friend who does photography as a hobby took it for free!

2. Create a thorough bio
